Pilpel [ Peel-Pel]
A Hebrew word meaning pepper, also used as a verb in the context of adding character or life, To enrich, to enliven, to energize, to spice up.
Pilpel is a group of Israeli musicians with versatile musical backgrounds, coming together to celebrate our musical heritage. All born and raised in various places around Israel, we came to New York to follow and enhance our musical careers, which are mainly centered in the jazz world. Since our arrival in NY, we have performed in various configurations quite extensively throughout the tri-state area as well as touring the USA and Canada. We represent a newer generation in Israeli and Jewish music.
Pilpel's focus is on presenting artistic performances that takes the listener through the various facets and stories of Israeli music. The performances are an exciting and dynamic experience.
The performances can be formatted in different ways :
- 1. As an artistic performance that takes the listeners through stories and songs central to the development of Israeli music.
- 2. As an educational workshop that includes the musical performance, but is enhanced with explanations and student participation in various ways.
